The famous Palm Jumeirah island which has the shape of a palm tree has it’s own monorail which make it possible to travel to some of the highlights on the island. With the monorail you can travel fast and easy to the famous Atlantis The Palm hotel and the Aquaventure Waterpark on Palm Jumeirah. The shopping center of The Pointe opened in 2018 also has its own station.
Palm monorail route
The route of the monorail runs over the entire trunk of the palm island up to the Atlantis hotel. From the train station the monorail takes you to the final station at Atlantis The Palm in about 10 minutes. Thanks to the high position of the monorail you have a magnificent panoramic view over the Palm Island with its many luxurious villas and in the background the skyline of Downtown Dubai and the Dubai Marina.
The monorail is fully automated so you can also stand in the front and in the back of the monorail. Here you have a perfect view from the sides and also from the front and the back. Especially when the monorail is near the end station you have a good view of the impressive Atlantis The Palm hotel.
The Palm Monorail is at this moment not linked to the Dubai Metro but the plans are to extend the route from the monorail to the Sheik Zayed Road where the metro passes. However, the Palm Monorail has a direct connection to the Palm Jumeirah tram station. (station no. 9) So you can easily change to the tram to travel further to the Dubai Marina or the metro stations of Damac Properties (Dubai Marina station) and DMCC.
Palm Monorail stations
The monorail station is the Gateway Towers station which is located on the mainland next to the Royal Mirage Hotel. The terminal of the monorail is at the Atlantis The Palm hotel at the tip of the island. In between, there are a number of stations that are currently under development (early 2019) or are opened in 2017. Below we have listed all the stations, including the stations still under construction, for you.
Palm Gateway station – open
The Palm Gateway station is the monorail’s main station and is easy to reach by tram from the Dubai Tram station (Palm Jumeirah station). The tram station is connected to the Monorail station by a bridge over the road. In about 5 to 10 minutes you walk from the tram station into the Palm Gateway station. Palm gateway also has a taxi stand so you can easily travel to the station by taxi. Make sure you do not take a white taxi, these are the more expensive taxis. It is best to take the yellow taxis with a colored roof, these are on the taxi meter and are therefore cheaper. You can read more about the taxi in Dubai at the Taxi in Dubai page. There is also a parking garage for 1600 cars where you can park if you travel to the monorail station by private transport.
Al Ittihad Park station – open
This station is located on the trunk of the palm island and is open. The station has a direct connection to the Galleria Mall and the apartments on this part of the palm island.
Nakheel Mall station – open
This station was opened in November 2019. It connects directly to Nakheel Mall, which features an array of activities and attractions that cater to all visitors. This station offers direct access the Palm Tower. Here you can enjoy the amazing view from the 240 meter high viewing platform.
Atlantis Aquaventure station – open
The monorail station at the Atlantis hotel is the terminus of the route. It is next to the entrance to the Atlantis Aquaventure Waterpark, the number one aqua park in the Middle East. Step out of the station and enter Atlantis, There are a range of amazing water activities like diving, snorkelling and also walking under water. Explore Dubai’s largest aquarium, Dolphin Bay and Sea Lion Point.
The Atlantis station you walk straight into the hotel. You can also reach the Palm Boardwalk from this station. This promenade runs along the entire outer ring of the palm island is only a few minutes walk from the station.
The Pointe station
The Pointe Station has been open since October 2022, which means that all stations on the monorail route are finally open. If you want to visit The Pointe Mall at the tip of the palm island or the beautiful fountain show of The Palm Fountain, you can get off at this station.
Palm monorail tickets & timetable
The day tickets and NOL cards of the public transport in Dubai are not valid in the monorail which means that you have to buy separate tickets. The tickets for a ride with the monorail are available at the stations Gateway Towers and the station at Atlantis. It’s also possible to order your Palm Monorail tickets online at Tiqets.com.
A return ticket with the monorail to the terminal costs 30 dirhams per person, about 8 dollars, a single journey to the terminal costs 15 dirhams, about 4 dollars. It is also possible to buy a single ticket or return ticket only for one of the intermediate stations.

Timetable
The monorail train leaves every 15 minutes from the start and end station. The first train leaves from the Gateway station at 9:00 am and the last train leaves at 20:45. At the end station, the first monorail train leaves 9:15 am and the last train leaves at 22:00.
The monorail runs seven days a week, so also on Friday, the holy day of the Muslims. The times mentioned may have changed over time, so always check the border for the most up-to-date timetable on the spot
