In the south-eastern part of the Dubai Mall lies the impressive artwork, The Waterfall. The artwork was designed by the architectural firm DPA Architects from Singapore and consists of two cylindrical walls, 24 meters high and with a diameter of 30 meters. A waterfall is installed on these cylindrical walls, with various fiberglass diving figures seemingly plunging downwards between them.
The fountain spans all four floors of the shopping mall, creating an impressive whole where many people stop to take a photo. Especially in the evenings, it can get pleasantly crowded with tourists who want to quickly snap a selfie in front of the fountain. Those who wish to capture the fountain without people are advised to visit during the day.
The way the water falls downward is quite unique; it appears to be a regular waterfall, but those standing at the foot of the waterfall will notice that not a single water droplet splashes upward. By manipulating the water’s descent, no water droplets splash towards the shopping mall, keeping everything around the waterfall neatly dry.
Where to Find The Waterfall?
The artwork, The Waterfall, is in the Dubai Mall, in the south-eastern part of the shopping center in the area also known as “The Grove,” near many dining spots and close to hotel The Address Downtown Dubai and the Waterfront Promenade.
