The beautiful Atlantis The Palm hotel on the Palm Jumeirah island is one of the major attractions of Dubai, but did you know that there is another attraction in this hotel that is definitely worth a visit? The Atlantis hotel is also the home of the Lost Chambers Aquarium where you get the chance to view the legendary lost city of Atlantis in more than 20 different aquariums. A unique attraction where everybody can entertain themselves for hours.
A small part of the aquariums in Atlantis on Palm Jumeirah are free to visit. But to admire all the aquariums, and especially the most beautiful ones, you have to buy a ticket for The Lost Chambers. In this paid section you will find over 20 beautifully decorated aquariums filled with thousands of animals including sharks, rays and octopuses.
The Lost Chambers aquarium is slightly smaller than the Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo in the Dubai Mall, but is definitely worth a visit. Just because of the mythological atmosphere of Atlantis in the aquarium and the beautiful decor and decoration in and around the aquariums.
The Lost City of Atlantis
The Atlantis hotel and the aquarium of The Lost Chambers are based on the legend of the lost city of Atlantis. Entirely in style with the mythical Atlantis theme, the aquarium is classified as a series of tunnels and mazes. So you are constantly exploring in an underwater world where more than 65,000 wonderful marine animals swim around.
In the aquariums of the Lost Chambers you can admire various species of sharks, lobsters, rays, octopuses, jellyfishes, octopuses, seahorses and piranhas among the ruins of the sunken city. If you are lucky you can even feed the animals together with one of the caretakers. For anyone who wants to get very close to the sea animals there is the “touch tank” where you can touch various fish and sea animals to feel how these special marine animals feel.
The many aquariums of the Lost Chambers are illuminated in a unique way so that the marine animals that live there are at their best. And for the ultimate Atlantis experience you can take part in one of the myth tours that take place every hour. Here you will learn everything about the lost city of Atlantis and the thousands of animals that live in the aquarium.
One of the biggest attractions of the Lost Chambers aquarium are the brothers Ali and Blue, two rare albino crocodiles that grew up in the aquarium from an early age.
Tickets The Lost Chambers
To visit The Lost Chambers in the Atlantis hotel you have to buy a ticket. The ticket price by Tiqets is for adults is 29 dollars, children between 4 and 11 years pay 22 dollars for a ticket.
Tickets for The Lost Chambers can easily be booked in advance online on the website of Tiqets or the website of GetYourGuide. My advice is to compare both providers to see what is the best option for you. You might save a few dollars. By reserving your tickets in advance, you do not have to wait in line at the ticket office at The Lost Chambers and you do not suffer from the exchange rate of the dirham because you pay everything in dollars.
Diving and snorkeling in The Lost Chambers
Do you want to watch the fish in The Lost Chambers from very close? Then you can opt for a snorkel or dive package through the Ambassador Lagoon aquarium. During this unique experience you get a chance behind the scenes to snorkel or dive in a gigantic aquarium and swim between the sharks, rays and fish.
Each activity has a price and you will not be surprised that this will not be cheap. The cheapest snorkel tour costs 280 dirhams per person, that is converted76 dollars. Children must be at least 6 years to participate. And if they are under 16 years they must be accompanied by an adult.
There is also a experience of walking underwater at the Ambassador Lagoon among fish, sharks & rays. It is accessible to everyone even if you can not swim. It is certainly a unique experience and you must have a little guts. The costs for this activity are 375 dirham, that is converted 102 dollars.
The Atlantis dive discovery tour costs you as much as 1350 dirhams per person, which is equivalent to 368 dollars. Children must be at least 10 years old. For more information about the different snorkel and dive arrangements, visit the website of Atlantis.
Location and Opening hours
The Lost Chambers aquarium is located in the Atlantis The Palm hotel which is located on the artificial island of Palm Jumeirah. The Palm Jumeirah island is located near the Dubai Marina and has its own monorail transport system that allows you to easily and quickly travel to the Atlantis hotel. The station of Atlantis is the last stop on the line of the monorail, the train station can be found at the Gate Towers. More information about the monorail can be found on our Palm Jumeirah monorail page.
The Palm Jumeirah monorail station is easy to reach by taxi or with the Dubai Tram. The monorail has no direct connection to the Dubai metro, but thanks to the tram stop (Palm Jumeirah stop) in front of the monorail’s main train station, you can easily and quickly get to the monorail by public transport. The Dubai Tram runs through a large part of the Dubai Marina and has a direct connection to the metro at the “Dubai Marina” and DMCC Metro stations.
You can also take the taxi to the monorail station or the Atlantis The Palm hotel. If you take the taxi to the Atlantis hotel you have to take into account a large tariff because of the long distance that has to be traveled to get to the hotel.
The Lost Chambers aquarium is open every day from 10 o’clock in the morning until 10 o’clock in the evening. The best you can visit the aquarium in the early morning or afternoon / evening because it is more quiet than during the day.
