Dubai is full of special buildings. There a many of special islands on the coast of the city, there are also dozens of architectural highlights in the city. But not only you will find special things in Dubai itself. You can also find unique structures in the middle of the desert.
In the middle of the desert there are two artificially created lakes that together form two gigantic hearts. The two lakes, known as Love Lake, are close to Al Qudra Lake and have become popular after the Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, shared photos of them on his Instagram page
Love Lake in Dubai
The romantic Love Lake is the ideal place to visit with your loved one. Everything here revolves around romance. The lake of more than 550,000 square meters was opened in November 2018 and has already welcomed quite a few couples in love during that time.
Due to its location in the middle of the desert, there is a unique serene atmosphere at the lake which sometimes looks like a fairytale. It is one of the most romantic destinations in all of Dubai making it the ideal place to spend quality time with your partner or loved ones.
The lake has two gates which are easy to recognize thanks to the wooden sign with Love Lake on it. Everywhere on the site you can find romantic spots decorated with wooden hearts. Despite the lake being in the middle of the desert, the place is a true oasis in the middle of the desert. You will find a huge collection of plants, flowers and trees. To complete the romantic feeling, various heart shapes of flowers can also be found on the grounds.
The lake is also an ideal place to spot different types of birds. Ducks, swans, falcons and many other types of birds live on and around the water of the lake. And if you are lucky you can even admire an eagle. There are also various fish including a large colony of goldfish in the water which you can see if you are lucky.
If you want to cool off, you can take a dip in the cool water in the shallow end of the lake. If you want to be active, you can even swim a few laps in the water.
How do you get to Love Lake?
The Love Lake in the desert of Dubai is free to visit and is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The lake is about a 30-minute drive from downtown Dubai in the Al Salam desert region. The lake is about 10 minutes’ drive from Al Quadra Lakes and is part of the Al Marmoom Desert Conservation Reserve.
If you want to drive to the lake with your own transport, you have to follow Al Qudra Road (D63) and take the exit to Love Lake. It is best to turn on the navigation via Google Maps because the lake has no real address which you can enter in the navigation system.
